Learn about your counselor

As a bilingual (English/Spanish) and bicultural mental health counselor, I strive to empower clients to become aware of the strengths they hold to foster positive mental health. I graduated with an M.S. in mental health counseling from The University of Texas at El Paso and a PhD in counselor education & supervision from Penn State University. I have a specialty in working with children, adolescents, and families.

I started my private practice, Lumina Horizons Counseling, PLLC, to provide services to clients who are looking for a clinical counselor who provides a safe and comforting space to express their needs and experiences. I invite my clients to share their stories of resilience and strength with me, including the challenges and barriers they faced.

My ideal client is one who may be struggling with mental health concerns related to anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, or schizophrenia and who is willing to express their needs in the counseling session. My client would want to collaborate with their counselor to set realistic and achievable goals for healthy functioning. My ideal client wants to feel empowered to make lifestyle changes that will promote their well-being. My client would want to fully engage in counseling to prioritize their mental health and learn new tools to help them accomplish this.
